ABOUT US
"The church is the church only when it exists for others. The church is the body of Christ existing as community."
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
OUR VISION
La Mesa Presbyterian Church, a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA), is located in the International District of Albuquerque, near the Fairgrounds, and just off old Route 66. In its mission, life, and worship, the church has served this dynamic, diverse neighborhood for almost seventy-five years, and takes seriously its context in this multi-cultural community.
WHAT WE DO
We are a medium-sized congregation with a large footprint in the community and city, as we seek to serve Christ in tangible acts of compassion and justice. We balance the church's strong activism with an equally intentional commitment to spiritual growth and learning.
OUR COMMUNITY
Worship is at the center of our life together. We enjoy lively Reformed worship within a liturgical framework, with music including classical, folk, and gospel. Sunday service begins at 10:30 AM and lasts about an hour.
FIND YOUR FAITH
Compassion and justice are integral to serving Christ in this community. We work in the areas of hunger, health, public education, homelessness, community organizing, and other efforts. We address these issues both in direct service and advocacy and public policy strategies. There is a fuller description of our mission efforts under the Social Justice Work dropdown above.
